Syd x Fin
The kids from The Internet are all dropping solo projects this year and I can’t help but be excited. I love groups, but it’s something special about hearing an artist alone without the pressure of collaboration. Syd’s album proved to be more digital (dope!) and a little fuckboyish (gross!), but it still will be getting rounds from me!
Steve Lacy x Steve Lacy’s Demo
Is Lacy of age??? One – he’s fine AF. Secondly, “Steve Lacy’s Demo” is pure grown folk music. If this is what this kid is pumping out now, imagine him at 40?! Yeeeeeesh!
Musiq x Simple Things
Musiq was ROBBED this year in the Grammys by not winning in the R&B Vocal Performance category, but he’s back! The Male Vocal Bible blessed us with an amazing album last year and it looks like he’s keeping the train moving. “Simple Things” is classic Musiq. I’m geeked!
Nao x For All We Know (Remix) EP
I’ve been yelling about Nao for like five years now back when she was just a background singer. I’m so happy that not only is she now a bonafide star, but FYE enough that she could flip her album with a remix EP! It breathed so much life into the songs I already loved. Can’t wait to blast this all summer.
The.Wav x Proposition
Don’t remember how I found The.Wav, but their new song “Proposition” reminded me why I’m still on their line. Just press play and sweat it out!
Christian Scott x The Reckoning
I’m so haaaaaaapy about the resurgence of jazz music at the hands of young black people. Christian Scott has been integral in this new movement and he’s teasing a new album! If it’s anything like “The Reckoning” I’m reh-dee ya’urrdmeh?
Thundercat x Drunk
Thundercat, Thundercat, Thundercat….yes! yes! yes! I mean, there’s a song with Michael McDonald the Gawd. What’s there not to love??
RnBTrivia is back this Monday and we’re celebrating the new class of R&B singers for Women’s History Month! Make sure to RSVP.
You can always hear what I’m listening to on InstaStories. I’m @iso14below…of course!
