Many of you may not know, but I was raised in a Black nationalist/Pan-African household, so I’ve celebrated Kwanzaa for most of my last 30 years on the planet. It’s my fave holiday after my birthday (duh) and what better way to celebrate these deeply important seven days than with some whiskey and brews?
Why helloooooooo Kwanzaa Bar Crawl!!!!
So here’s the deal…
Step 1: Buy a ticket (it’s $10)
Step 2: Convince all of your friends to buy a ticket too
Step 3: Pick a route (Ya’ll know I’m starting at Bed-Vyne)
Step 4: Show up at Restoration Plaza on December 26th at 1pm. (The organizers said come dressed “unapologetically black’. My weave and European threads don’t know what that means though.)
Step 5: Drink up until the very second where you’re about to embarass yourself
Step 6: Sleep until the next afternoon and get a fishplate from Ma’N’Pop’s Soul Food.
Ujaama aka Cooperative Economics is my fave Kwanzaa principle because I love supporting black businesses, espesh in my (sadly) gentrifying neighborhood. Hope to see ya’ll on Monday and for f*cksakes, be. on. time.
