Two years ago, I up and decided I would do a web series. Year of the Real Black Girl was born in 2014 and in 2015 expanded to a bi-monthly black girl meetup series.
Between life happening and personal confusion on what I could contribute to the current climate of the black woman’s movement, I ended the meetups. Alas, I miss the camaraderie and foolery, so I’m inviting all my real ass black girls to join me this Sunday, September 11th at 8pm for multidisciplinary artist (and fellow Clark Atlanta alum) Ayesha Jordan’s latest show Shasta Geaux Pop!
Ayesha and the show’s director, Charlotte Braithwaite are no strangers to the Year of the Real Black Girl family as we’ve had two meetups around their shows before and had a great time. Ayesha embodies characters like no other and Charlotte’s ability to bring her wildest imaginations to life is legit unmatched. I promise you don’t wanna miss this special night!
