Contrary to popular belief, my adopted home of Bedford-Stuyvesant is and has been a thriving cultural center in New York City. Everything that makes a city urbane and chic can all be found everywhere you look in the Stuy.
One of my favorite spots is the Skylight Gallery in Restoration Plaza. The space hosts art exhibitions, artists talks, and book tours and I’ve been a stan since 2008. I finally got my butt over to the gallery for their latest show in collaboration with Welancora Gallery, “The Art of HERstory”. Comprised of work solely from Black women from across the diaspora, there was no way that I could miss this multi-venue exhibition!
This is the final weekend of “The Art of HERstory”, so round up your girls and make a day of it. Brunch and dranks at Peaches Hothouse is the perfect intermission as you roll through each gallery.
