so we’re finally here…let’s jump into it!
hiatus kaiyote x choose your weapon
nai palm is everything and everything is nai palm. i was pretty on board with hk when there first album dropped, but nothing prepared me for “choose your weapon”. nai is singing her face off from top to bottom. my fave from the album is “breathing underwater”. #blessings
snoop dog x bush
i still need to get through the rest of this album (choose your weapon has me occupied), but you can’t lose when snoop, pharrell, and uncle charlie are involved. get into my current go to “california roll” above.
overdoz x last kiss
speaking of pharrell, my besties in my head, overdoz, connected with the ageless wonder for a new cut. it’s the same beat as a song on “g i r l”, but i’ll never deny a good summer jam!
a$ap rocky x at long last asap
i’m rocky’s day one, but the first label album left so much to be desired. it looks like our boy took control this time and put out one of the best albums this year. out of the 18 tracks (amen for long 90s style albums), there’s only one a dislike. the sequencing is pefect. the sounds are lush. rocky is back on his rocky sh*t and i can’t be more obsessed. i have like six favorites, but for the last few days, i’ve been bumping “westside highway” with james fauntleroy like crazy.
monica x just right for me
murda mo is gearing up for her album release and “just right for me”. it’s a top level bop and has me so excited for “code red”!
tink x million
i’ve been screaming tink’s name since 2012 and i’m so happy that she’s still got some jams in her after releasing some just okay songs as of late. “million” def sits and looks low. for sure one of my fave songs this year.
tamia x stuck with me
this new tamia album (dropping today) is basically just her flexin’ about how flawless her marriage is in the sexiest way possible. “stuck with me” was dropped in may and along with “sandwich and soda”, confirms that “love life” will be the ‘me + bae gettin’ it poppin’ album of the year.
bosco x boy
i have to admit, i was reaaaaally sleeping on bosco. ever since her ep “boy” dropped, i’ve been kicking myself for not listening to her music when people were trying to put me on years ago. thankfully, i’m finally on board and i’m super in love. don’t ask how many times i listen to “rosenwood” each day. shout out to our first feature of the “six questions with” series, spree wilson, for his work on this amazing ep!
louise chantal x genuflect
i said that 2015 was the year of the sanguhz and that extended to the alt-r&b world. i love the heaviness of louise chantal’s voice and pressed to hear more.
lil mama x sausage
the world loves to hate lil mama, but “sausage” will def have the block parties and cookouts lit! :wu tangs::
