i’ve always been an art fanatic, my first introduction was through artists like romare bearden, jacob lawrence, and faith ringgold as a kid, so painting has always been my fave medium. as the innanet becomes god, i often think about how it would broaden the scope of the art world.
it looks like i won’t have to wait much longer, because my beloved mocada will be premiering it’s new show, “selfie” by artist rafia santana this saturday (may 9) from 5-8pm. coming from a family of artists, i’m excited to hear from the future about self-identity in a now overly connected world.
if you happen to stop by (and you should), make sure you enjoy the $5 lunch special at brooklyn moon just down the block from mocada. it’s an iconic black staple in ft. greene, plus the salmon burger on fleeeeeek.
“selfie” is running until september 27th.
