yeesh! the year is almost over!
we are six episodes in and this talk is one of my faves! i have been a hip-hop head my entire life, so i’ve always had to reconcile my love for the genre with its wildly misogynistic behavior. i rounded up three women that have decades worth of iconic bars stored in their brain to talk this all out. we cover everything from beef, to nicki minaj, to feminism.
after viewing, make sure you check out the femcee mixtape i made during “black music month”. it’s back to back bangers, so listen and be blessed.
before we get out of here, i want to give a special shoutout to the homie glennisha. she was originally supposed to be a panelist, but the fall elements got the best of her (so you guys have to suffer through my rambling)the day of shooting. she is a true hip-hop scholar and you should def keep tabs on everything she’s up to. be sure to peep her blog and follow her on twitter. i also want to say thank you to kim from elixher mag for filling in for our amazing moderator desiree who just opened a store in dc. give her alllll your coins ladies! all’um!
*editor’s note: thank you to laurent chevalier for the amazing portraits throughout this project. check his dopeness over at his site, chevaliercreative.com.
