living as a new yorker on the cheap means alot of b-ratings and hep-infested dive bars. even though those make for great stories to share with your kids when you’re old and boring, every once in a while, you deserve rounds…classy rounds.
my friend corey and i loved getting fancy and going to fig. 19 (which we lovingly called gucci gucci), but 13 bucks for a cocktail is a bummer to the pockets. alas, the star of our last “six questions with”, andrea, showed me the light in the form of juke bar. she had her birthday party there and i’ve been blabbing about it to folks ever since.
so yes, during normal hours the cocktails are $13, HOWEVER, happy hour is til an unprecendented 9pm and it goes alllllll night on wednesdays. hello! all beer, wine, and crap booze (aka well) is $5 and specialty drinks are $8. when i say specialty, i mean top notch mixology-style cocktails. turn to your neighbor and say “value!”. as per the jammin’ dj, i was swiggin’ on a few drinks in between body rolls and i give the lemon stash (boubon, bitters, lemon juice, honey) and the singleton (elderflower liqueur, blackberries, sparkling wine) two thumbs up. in order to focus on the important things, i’ve yet to try juke bar’s food, but brunch is on my to-do list in the next few weeks.
whether you’re taking your cuffin’ season 2014 boo out on a date or throwing a big party with friends just ’cause, you should def hit up the juke bar. who doesn’t love drankin’ and jukin’??
speaking of juking……….
