i could honestly eat pancakes (preferably from ma-n-pop’s in bed-stuy) 3 times a day, every day. my mom knew i was sick as a kid when i refused to eat breakfast. i’m obsesssssssed. my good bud monica alerted me that there was a place in williamsburg that sold waffle sandwiches, so we obviously went days after her announcement. we landed at waffle & wolf.
i took class at fluent brooklyn for a few years, so i’m not sure how i missed this gem right around the corner on graham ave, but now that we’ve met, i’m never letting bae go. i should start this review by saying that the customer service was awesome! i felt like i was hanging out in my friend’s kitchen. the space is pretty small too, so it adds to the homeyness. i don’t remember any music being played, but i was zenned out either way.
like a crepe spot, waffle & wolf has sweet and savory offerings. mon and i are not here for child’s play, so we went with the savory. we ordered the #28 (pulled pork, kale chips, red onion, horseradish-yogurt) and #31 (baked in jalepeno, shredded chicken, avocado, lime, salsa) and split them in half to try both. there are three choices of waffle; regular, cornbread, and buckwheat, but we chose the first two. there is a 99.9% chance that i wept on the first bite. no lie! i’m not sure who was back there making the food, but they made it with the deepest love. i was fighting a summer cold, so i topped off the yumminess of the sandwich with their chamomile-lavender tea. waffle & wolf also has fresh-pressed juices for only $4.50 (12oz) and $7 (20oz). see, all of williamsburg isn’t expensive guys! i’m supposed to be prepping for the summer months by dropping these unemployment pounds i’ve gained, but i think my commitment to my relationship with waffle & wolf may win out. sorry, two piece!
for anyone else willing to throw caution to the wind, i truly suggest hightailing it to waffle & wolf. i even have something to sweeten the deal, so don’t say i’ve never done anything for you. <—–(i would click “anything” if i were you).
i’m off to go practice my background vocals for the sisqo concert tonight for nyc’s summerstage. if you see me in the crowd, please wait to chat me up after. i will be in the holiest of holies the entire show and prefer not to be disturbed.
