my favorite tv show of all time is “martin”. i have at least 3 seasons on vhs and all 5 on dvd. i can act out complete scenes verbatim. some of the best scenes took place at nipsey’s bar, detroit’s favorite watering hole. the black “cheers”, if you will. i always wanted to find a place where everybody knew my name, they’re so happy that i came, and have good wings. i told you about my longstanding favorite place for bar food here, but as per their menu change, a new king has been crowned.
congrats trophy bar, you in first place!
i’d been coming to trophy for a while. my friend used to bbq on their back patio and play tunes a few years ago and their taco tuesday is legendary. i hadn’t been in a while, but a friend invited me out on monday for their special night, “weirdo nokto”. basically, it’s just this girl is playing epic 80s/90s r&b videos all night. for all of you that have been reading this blog for a while, you should know that i spent the entire night dancing, singing, and weeping. the chick played some nippy, so weeping was the only natural response. that weirdo nokto is now on hiatus, but the food at trophy is better than ever.
as i mentioned earlier, taco tuesday is everybody’s jam here and the $5 happy hour burgers are unbeatable. trophy is also famous for their grilled cheese sandwiches. on monday i decided to be a maverick and try something different on the menu. i went with the veggie burger and my life has not been the same. made with chickpeas, sweet potatoes, cranberries, and walnuts, I could eat this jawn everyday for the rest of my days. it was packed with rich flavor and the tzatziki dipping sauce turned it up another notch. i’ll be fiending on this burger all summer. for anyone missing gucci mane, trophy has lemon pepper wings (but no freeze cup) for you to munch on. the nachos are a crowd favorite and thank you jesus for chorizi cheese fries! for anyone being responsible and eating light for summer, the warm quinoa salad is here for you.
if you’re looking for me this summer, i’ll be lounging on the patio stuffing my face, with beer flowing like manna from heaven like the g i’m is.
