did anyone take my advice and head over to williamsburg for grand street restaurant week? welp, i did and this happened.
…for the hefty cost of $10 ($12 if you include my tea).
out of the restaurants participating, i picked dar 525 because i looooove mediterranean food. during finals week senior year, i literally ate nothing but tabbouleh. it’s that serious. of course because i’m a masochist, i decided to go out during a snow-rain storm. i cursed myself the entire ride there, but it was beyond worth it. the second we walked in, the waitress was super pleasant and friendly. the decor was obviously cheesy, but we’re here for the food after all, right? right.
so the restaurant week deal was an appetizer and main course for $10. ::kanye voice:: awesome! i ordered grape leaves and the kefta plate. a few minutes later 56 tons of food arrives in front of me; five grape leaves, huge scoops of hummus and babaganoush, two huge kefta (combo of beef and lamb) links, salad, and two fresh pitas with all of the fixins. summer is around the corner, so i only ate half of my meal. the leftovers morphed into a pita sandwich for tomorrow’s lunch. so technically, my lunch really only cost 5 bucks! god, i love a good steal!
unfortunately, grand street restaurant week is ovuh until next year, but lucky for us, dar 525 has great pricing and even better food year round. be sure to visit the next time you’re in the neighbs and tell them that stephanye sent ya! okay, who am i kidding, they have no clue who i am, but you get my drift.
